Hey Mamas, Lauren here from LaurenChante.Com to offer you some self-love shopping tips. Either you love shopping or hate it. No matter which of these categories you fall into, shopping is an activity that can highlight any weaknesses in your self-love – and not always in the ways you expect.

self-love shopping tips are written in pink on a pastel gray and white background.

I hardly ever shop, but I recently went on a shopping spree and noticed myself falling into some bad patterns. I wanted to share a few of my self-love shopping tips that might help you make sure your shopping behavior is truly loving toward yourself.

Self-Love Shopping Tip #1

Nobody looks good in everything. So make sure your self talk reflects that. Instead of saying “I don’t look good in this because I’m ugly/need to lose weight,” change your thinking to “this isn’t the style that’s best for my body.” Remember, this isn’t just being nicer to yourself – it’s changing your thinking to reflect REALITY!!! Really and truly, no person on this planet looks good in everything!!! For example, with my body shape and after having 3 kids, some clothes make my waist look thicker than it is. They compress my extra baby-skin in funny ways and don’t flatter me! I only feel good in clothes that fit my body shape.

Self-Love Shopping Tip #2

Make a budget and stick to it. Spending money you don’t have is NOT self-love, but it sure is easy to “twist” things in your head so it seems like it is! Try on clothes. Appreciate them. Feel them. Twirl them. Selfie in them. And put them back. Allow yourself nice things when you have planned for them, but plan accordingly.

Self-Love Shopping Tip #3

Notice negative thoughts, accept that they are there, then say “I choose not to receive that.” Negative thoughts have no place with self-love. This is easier said than done, of course. If this isn’t easy for you, start with just noticing the negative thoughts and naming them by saying “I’m thinking negatively” in your head. After you master that, start saying “I’m thinking negatively, and I choose not to do that.” The words don’t have to be exactly mine, so find what feels good for you and speak in your “own” voice.

Self-Love Shopping Tip #4

This is one of the very most important tips. Don’t wait until you lose weight to buy new clothes. Your body and your beauty deserve to be honored at every size. And it helps you to build momentum. Ever heard ‘dress for the job you want?’ Well, dress for the LIFE you want! Other than being healthier or losing weight, you just want to feel GOOD!

So dress to feel good!
