I invited this fresh fruit platter one day because these were literally the last ingredients in my pantry, and I had guests. Turns out it was pretty amazing, and now I make it intentionally! It’s so much better than the usual, boring fruit platters.

Dessert is my weak spot. I struggled with sugar addiction for years. I’ve found a lot of hacks for dealing with my sugar addiction, and enjoying a fresh fruit platter in place of refined sugar is a biggie for me. Over time, I became pretty bored with fruit platters, though. I longed for the elegance and fanfare of a real dessert. I really do my best to eat the right portions of things, and this hits the spot without sending me overboard (if you’re interested in learning more about portion control, check out my freebie here).

My husband’s family is Italian, and the Italians really know how to take fresh, simple ingredients and make them into something extraordinary.

Orange & Almond Simple Fruit Platter

The real key to this recipe is having GOOD oranges. Make sure your oranges are fresh and sweet. If they aren’t, then this dish will bomb! If the oranges are too juicy, let the juices stay on the cutting board and transfer the oranges to the platter using a slotted spoon.
